This Rainbow Tree of Life Pendant is designed with permanently colored copper wire. A genuine goldstone moon hovers behind the branches while a whimsical lead and nickel free pewter Unicorn charm rears up on its hind legs in the foreground.

The symbolic meaning of rainbows goes way deeper than what most take it for. Rainbows make tons of appearances in creation myths. They stand for powerful ideas like duality, creation, divinity, and good luck. They also represent liminal spaces. A liminal space is a place of transition, waiting, and not knowing. It happens when you leave the tried-and-true way of doing things but before you transition to a new way.

Hindu and Buddhist Tantra says that those who have surpassed their earthly ties are spiritually ready to reach the highest meditative state and experience the “rainbow body.” It’s an ultimate oneness and typically happens at the time of death. To learn more about this, check out Dzogchen.

The rainbow holds a commonly found meaning of unity in many cultures. It is specifically addressed as the union between earth and sky with the rainbow as a bridge between the two.

Celtic Druids believed curves are emblems of crescent moons and the divine feminine presence. So rainbows also represent magic, prosperity, and fertility. Think of it this way, arches, moons, rainbows are all reminiscent of the prominent swell of a mother’s belly.
